Cr Pauline Townsend

Chair

A born-and-bred local, she regards herself as an ordinary person, with an extraordinary passion for her community. Her passion also extends to working in a voluntary capacity for local charities, which over the years has included:

  • Make-A-Wish Foundation (8 years)

  • Rotary (10 years), where she held the positions of Secretary, Publicity Officer, and President

  • Committee Member for Engedi Inc Disability Accommodation Services (4 years)

  • Chairperson, Trudy Crowley Foundation

Pauline was a personal friend of Trudy’s for many years. They often joked they couldn’t remember when or where they’d first met, only that the connection was instant, and their friendship continued until her passing. She had the privilege of walking the journey of ovarian cancer with Trudy from her diagnosis in 2016, to her tragic passing in 2018. During this time, they shared many glasses of Veuve, belly laughs, tears, and Trudy’s vision and determination - that no woman will ever have to walk the same journey as her.

When the opportunity arose for Pauline to join the Board of Directors for the Trudy Crowley Foundation in early 2021, she accepted with gratitude and determination to continue to fulfill Trudy’s dream.

Pauline believes in the years since Trudy’s passing, the Foundation has surpassed all that Trudy envisioned and wished for. She continues to work with the Board on their fundraising efforts and is bold enough to predict, in years to come, we will see the opening of the Trudy Crowley Sanctuary, a tranquil haven for palliative care patients to be cared for with dignity, compassion, and respect.
